Textile Museum

Hosted in a historic building, the museum
illustrates the history of the tissue,
trade practised by the natives since the
15-th century. It exhibits items symbolising
the evolution of the weaving technology,
documents and old books. History of textile
productions beginning with the ancient
tools and techniques dating back from
the 16th century, to the manufactures
of the 18th century. Industrial archeology
section dedicated to textile machines.
The Village Museum

Opened in 1969 in an old house, historic
monument. In its three rooms it offers
to the public a Saxon interior from Cristian,
objects of ethnography, as well as some
rare books from the 17-th - 18-th century.
The Museum of
Icons "Zosim Oancea"
Sibiel
Founded in 1969. In the 80's it was reorganised
in a new building. It includes a valuable
collection of glass icons from almost
all the specific centres of the country.
Beside the glass iconsthere are also exhibited
wooden icons, folk ceramics, furniture,
textile, as well as a series of old Romanian
books.
The Village Museum "Barbu Constantin"
Gales
(Gales is a smaller village belonging
to the larger one, Saliste, being its
continuation on the way to Tilisca. Documentary
attested in 1383, the village Gales has
347 inhabitants).
The museum, organised in 1968, has an
ethnographic exhibition and folk art from
the area and an open air sector. The pavilion
exhibits aspects of potter, hatter, comber
and belter - furrier, and illustrates
aspects from the local traditional customs.
The garden shelters a house from Saliste
with a specific interior and a sheepfold
from the 19-th century.
The Museum of
the personalities from Saliste
Saliste P-ta Eroilor
nr.8
Founded in 1978. It contains books, documents,
works of art referring to prominent personalities
from the village.
The Rural Museum
555300 Cisnadioara (next
to the lower church in the village)
It was organised in 1971 and exhibits
textile, ceramics and wood creativity
in the south of Transylvania. The Saxon
painted furniture also has a great exhibits.
