The air connections of the city are insured by the Sibiu International Airport, located on national road DN1, at 3 kilometers from the city. Direct connections with the international airports in Bucharest, Targul Mureş and Timişoara, and with the international airports in Germany, Spain, Ukraine, Austria, Moldavia Greece and Italy, by means of regular flights. The increase in the passenger flow determined the initiation of a modernization project for the airport which was finalized in 2008.
